Who Is Bearman3600?
Where it started...
The name "Bearman3600" comes from an old Xbox gamertag, like many other random names with numbers. "Bear" was a childhood nickname. The original gamertag was "Bearman360" but that was taken, go figure. So "Bearman3600" it is and has been since 2013.
Why YouTube?
Over many years, I feel like I've just watched people slowly become templates. You watch someone long enough and they either flanderize themselves or become too corporate. I fucking hate that shit and I just got sick of everyone. I hate watching the same YouTubers suddenly become part of some larger group, then lose their magic. I hate listening to creators peddle the same garbage opinions about trash people take too seriously.Â
I always wanted to create content, but when I was younger, I was so sure I wasn't going to be able to ensure I wouldn't be cringe, so I never bothered. Then in 2023, I just got so sick of everyone on the platform. I couldn't watch anyone without criticizing everything they did or said, so I decided it would finally be time to stop saying "I know what's wrong with content now" and just actually make something.
so what's Bearman3600 all about?
I'm all about me and what I do. You never know what I'm gonna upload next, and frankly, neither do I. I don't stick to topics or styles and I don't talk about things just because they're topical. I don't care if something will get a million views or if it'll net in new subscribers. If I want to do something, then I'll just do it.
I frequently look at obscure games and hardware, make fun of AI, do satirical reviews, and everything else is just Bearman3600. All of it. My videos are Bearman3600 videos I make for me. I'm not inspired by anyone and I'm not trying to be like anyone. No one influences my humor or writing. I'm me and my content is me. That's how I've always made content and that's how I always will.
What is Gilbert?
The "Gilbert" character is a humanoid robot with one red eye. I originally designed him for a game I was developing. Will I ever finish developing it? I have no idea. I hope to complete it throughout my life. Making games is hard as shit, but when I created my YouTube channel, I figured Gilbert would make for a good mascot. He is named after my favorite comediain and his design is based on 1950's style cliche sci-fi robots. A lot of his design comes specifically as a mix of HAL9000 from "2001: A Space Odyssey" and EVE from "Earthbound Beginnings". The outfit is something I would wear a lot around the time I designed him.
The 2D illustrations are drawn by my artist, Laura C.
What's with that music?
I compose and produce music for many videos including my outro theme. In terms of art direction for my music and art, I tend to go for a spacey, sci-fi aesthetic and clash it with an 80s lower-middle class interior look.
I'm Bearman3600, and I've been wasting your time.
I'm Robert from New Jersey. I write, I edit, I record. I make. All my videos are made by me the way I want them to be.
